(this vineyard is normally picked after Pastorale as it's located closer to the ocean and its cooling breezes; vinified with 31% whole clusters): Bright ruby-red. More meaty on the nose than the Pastorale, with a strong blackberry flavor dominating. A step up in texture and sweetness too but this very dense wine is distinctly brooding and backward today. Drier on the back end than the Pastorale, and not showing quite that wine's oaky sweetness. This too closes with good peppery verve.
