2012 Joseph Phelps Pinot Noir Freestone Vineyards Pastorale Vineyard
UNITED STATES / CALIFORNIA / SONOMA
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92
(vinified with 34% whole clusters): Bright ruby-red. Tight aromas of blackberry, licorice, wild herbs and violet. Tightly wound but sweeter today than the basic Freestone blend, showing good pungent peppery lift to the dark berry and spice flavors. Firm acidity carries the finish, which stimulates with repeating notes of pepper and violet.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: May/June 2014Wine Advocate | Rating: 94
Even better is the outrageously delicious, complex 2012 Pinot Noir Pastorale. It reveals lots of meaty, red and dark berry fruit intermixed with forest floor and spring flower notes. Medium to full-bodied, rich and textured with sweet tannin and decent acidity, it can be enjoyed over the next 7-10 years.Drink Dates: 2013-2023Author: Robert Parker
