2012 Château l'Église-Clinet
FRANCE / BORDEAUX / POMEROL
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 94(90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc; 80% new oak): Deep ruby. Exceptionally pure aromas of fresh blackcurrant, blueberry, minerals, violet and sweet spices. Sweet, suave and dense, with highly refined flavors of red berries, blackberry and cinnamon, and an impression of sucrositAc that is truly unforgettable. The finish is long and delicately peppery, with lingering nuances of cinnamon, vanilla and strawberry jam and building, youthfully chewy but noble tannins. This very refined wine may turn out to be one of the handful of stars of the vintage. The merlot was harvested between Sept 21 and October 4, and the cabernet franc on October 6th.Author: Ian D'AgataIssue: May/June 2013
Wine Advocate | Rating: 96A gorgeous wine from proprietor Denis Durantou, this blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc is an inky purple color, with gorgeous purity of black raspberries, blackcurrants and blackberry with a hint of truffle and spring flowers. Its is full-bodied, opulent and a tour de force in this vintage. Great presence on the palate, fabulous purity and a long finish make for a magnificent bottle of wine to drink over the next 20-some years.Author: Robert Parker
This is a tiny estate that is often overlooked. The blend typically reflects a blend of 70%-80% Merlot and 20%-30% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines (55-65 years old) is one of the factors that make the wines from this chateau so admirable. They start out as juicy, concentrated and lush, and with time, become the personified elegance for which Pomerol has become famous.
