(from a 1992 planting at an altitude of 1,700 feet, between Howell Mountain and Pritchard Hill): Good deep red. Sappy but subdued aromas of cranberry, briary mountain raspberry and spices. Dense, classic and cool in the style of the year, offering sharply delineated, classically dry red berry and spice flavors. Finishes a bit clenched, with serious mountain tannins and lingering red berry and spice flavors. I may be underrating this.

Powerfully built, with a firm structure wrapped inside a jammy, supple texture. Aromas of smoky wild blackberry lead to rich, dense flavors of dried cherry, loamy mineral and underbrush. Will benefit from age.
