The calcare and pyrite-laden soils are a key ingredient in what the terroir imparts to these exquisite wines. Manual harvesting, hand selection of the grapes, and primary (alcoholic) and secondary (malolactic) fermentation in barriques completes the transformation from mere grape juice into wines of tremendous proportions.
