A new addition to the range, the 2011 Chardonnay Ross Station Estate is flat-out gorgeous. There is an exuberance of the fruit that is unusual for the year. Layers of rich, sensual fruit continue to develop over time. Personality and sheer class abound in the Ross Station. I can't wait to taste this again next year. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2019.

Bright gold. Candied orange, poached pear, honey and iodine on the powerfully scented nose. Fleshy and broad but energetic, offering palate-staining orchard fruit flavors and a smoky mineral underpinning. Shows very good depth and focus, finishing with impressive energy and an echo of smoky minerals. This is the first bottling from this 7.5 acre, south-facing vineyard, which was planted in 2008 to Calera, Mount Eden and Wente clones.

Powerful, with intense, raw and tannic white peach, honeysuckle, fig and honeydew melon notes, gaining traction and ending with a chewy aftertaste. The flavors remain deep and persistent.
