(15.2% alcohol; includes 13% cabernet franc and 2% malbec; aged in 80% new oak): Distinctly medicinal aromas of redcurrant and herbs, plus a whiff of chocolate. Sweet and pliant but a bit flat, showing modest inner-mouth depth and nuance. Tannins are supple but the finish betrays a green character. From a tiny crop held down by a hailstorm during the June 3/4 rainy period. This wine was vinified by Erin Green and finished by Kale Anderson, who took over as winemaker for Jayson Pahlmeyer's Napa Valley operations in July of 2012.

Pahlmeyer started over 20 years ago when former trial attorney Jayson Pahlmeyer decided to turn his passion for wine into a career in Napa Valley. After studying viticulture and oenology at the University of Bordeaux, Pahlmeyer returned to the United States and produced his first wine (a Bordeaux blend) in 1986. Under the guidance of Pahlmyer, and current winemaker Erin Green, this reputation endures, annually establishing the estate as one of the finest producers of Bordeaux blends, Merlot, and Chardonnay in California.
