Wine Advocate | Rating: 95The 2011 Richebourg Grand Cru is a cousin of the Romanee-Saint-Vivant on the nose, but a little more taciturn prior to revealing enthralling sea-spray scents with aeration, here interpolated by subtle pine needle scents, coniferous forest. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a denser framework than the RSV with a powerful, almost burly finish, though perhaps the Romanee-Sain-Vivant has a little more finesse and tension. Still, a magnificent wine, though.Author: Neal Martin
"Domaine Leroy is a welcome reminder of the difference between the very good and the great." - Michel Bettane, Vins de France
Created in 1988 with the purchase of the 12-hectare Domaine Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Leroy has become one of the most impressive and vaunted properties in Burgundy. Cultivation follows strict biodynamic parameters and the combination of old vine preservation and ultra-low yields produces fruit of unrivaled excellence. The resultant wines are masterpieces of purity, intensity and layered subtlety enhanced by an uncommonly statuesque concentration. The spectacular reviews that these wines consistently receive attest to their incredible and solid quality—they are a lynchpin in any Burgundy enthusiast's collection.
