International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89(66% new oak): Bright ruby-red. Powerful aromas of cherry, dark chocolate, anise and dried flowers. Sappy, supple and broad on entry, with perfumed flavors of cherry-vanilla, Indian spices and bitter chocolate. In a masculine style, showing good finishing thrust, building tannins and a late echo of sweet dark fruit. Give this one some air or more bottle age.Author: Josh RaynoldsIssue: May/June 2014

In the "Deep End" of the Anderson Valley, the Green family has developed Kite's Rest Vineyard, a 12-acre site set among the native redwoods. The vineyard, planted to Pinot Noir, is divided into 3 distinct blocks, which are handled, fermented, and bottled in block-designated bottlings. A general vineyard blend is also produced. Winemaker at Black Kite is twenty-five year wine industry veteran Jeff Gaffner, who also produces his family's own label, Saxon Brown.
