(66% new oak): Bright ruby-red. Powerful aromas of cherry, dark chocolate, anise and dried flowers. Sappy, supple and broad on entry, with perfumed flavors of cherry-vanilla, Indian spices and bitter chocolate. In a masculine style, showing good finishing thrust, building tannins and a late echo of sweet dark fruit. Give this one some air or more bottle age.

In the "Deep End" of the Anderson Valley, the Green family has developed Kite's Rest Vineyard, a 12-acre site set among the native redwoods. The vineyard, planted to Pinot Noir, is divided into 3 distinct blocks, which are handled, fermented, and bottled in block-designated bottlings. A general vineyard blend is also produced. Winemaker at Black Kite is twenty-five year wine industry veteran Jeff Gaffner, who also produces his family's own label, Saxon Brown.
