Bright ruby. Seductively perfumed nose offers fresh raspberry and rose scents, with bright mineral and spice nuances gaining power in the glass. Fleshy red fruit flavors deliver a powerful punch, with complicating notes of spicecake and floral pastilles. An exotic blood orange accent builds on the long, silky, strikingly pure finish.

Yet another striking wine, the 2010 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard boasts an intense center of minerality to back up the exuberant Pinot fruit. The balance and overall sense of harmony are gorgeous. There is wonderful push and pull between the opulence of the fruit from this well-known site in the Santa Lucia Highlands and the wine-s underlying tension. I especially like the pure, unbridled energy in the glass. Layers of fruit flow effortlessly to the rich, exuberant finish. This is a compelling wine from Paul Lato. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.
