A southern Rhone-like blend of 43% Mourvedre, 38% Grenache and 19% Syrah, the 2010 Altas Vinas is a beauty. Dense and meaty, with the Mourvedre really showing, it delivers loads of smoked black fruits, licorice, roasted meats and mineral qualities on the nose. This flows to a full-bodied 2010 that has a rich, full texture, solid mid-palate depth and a focused, structured finish. As with the Grenache, it needs a handful of years to come together and will shine for upwards of a decade. Drink 2014-2020.

  • McPrice Myers' introduction to wine was during his mid-20s while he was managing specialty grocery stores. With no formal training, he dove into the Central Coast wine scene when he was 27, and created his first release in 2002. Myers sources fruit from high profile sites such as Larner, Purisima Mountain and Stolpman for his small production Syrah and Grenache.
