2010 Domaine Hubert Lignier Morey-Saint-Denis Les Chaffots 1er Cru

Good medium red. Pure, deep aromas of cherry and spices. Silky-sweet and rich in extract, with harmonious acidity framing and intensifying the red fruit and spice flavors. Boasts impressive depth but will need time in bottle to display its inherent complexity. Finishes chewy and very long, with substantial oak-driven tannins buffered by strong fruit. The largest-scaled of Lignier's premier cru Morey wines in 2010. Really leaves the taste buds vibrating. A superb showing, with more to come.

The 2010 Morey St. Denis Les Chaffots comes across as rich, dense and powerful, but with plenty of underlying structure to support the fruit. The balance of fruit, acidity and tannin is superb. Layers of blue and black fruit saturate the finish. This is another standout from Lignier in 2010.
