2010 Domaine Frédéric Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 93
(vinified by Fred Magnien's son Jules): Good dark red. Raspberry, cinnamon, cumin and dusty cocoa powder on the nose. Suave entry of crushed stone, then sappy and energetic in the mid-palate, with peppery, mineral-driven acidity giving the wine excellent clarity. But this oak-spicy wine is already silky today. This was fermented in 500-liter one-year old barrels, then aged in once-used barriques.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: January/February 2012
