Wine Spectator | Rating: 95A flattering style, delivering expressive aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry, joined by sandalwood and tobacco flavors, with a hint of licorice. The fleshy texture fills the mouth, offering a warm sensuousness while the finish expands.'Non-blind 2010 DRC tasting (March 2013).Author: Bruce Sanderson
Wine Advocate | Rating: 96The 2010 Richebourg is a kaleidoscope of black fruit, graphite, mint, violets and spices. It is a towering, statuesque wine that completely saturates the palate in all directions, seemingly at the same time. The 2010 stands out for its beguiling, totally exquisite aromatics. The trademark Richebourg structure is present, but this seems to be a vintage where finesse takes precedence over sheer power.Author: Antonio Galloni
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 94Very good deep red. Much more austere on the nose than the Romanee-Saint-Vivant, hinting at dark fruits, menthol and violet. Then splendidly rich but backward, boasting obvious saline minerality but hiding more than it's showing today. Substantial dusty but refined tannins saturate the mouth on the very long, subtle, firmly structured back end. Perhaps the least sweet of these 2010s today; I note that this wine was similarly inscrutable from barrel a year ago.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2013
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) is Burgundy's most famous estate, producing all grand cru wines from 25 hectares of vines. The wines are made in extremely limited quantities and generate some of the highest prices on the market. DRC produces the grands crus Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échezeaux, Échezeaux, and Montrachet, of which both Romanée Conti and La Tâche are monopoles.
Co-proprietor Aubert de Villaine has farmed the vineyards organically since 1986 and has adhered to traditional, natural winemaking practices. Only natural yeasts are used, and aging is done in 100% new oak. The wines are characterized by finesse, balance, and refinement. They clearly reflect a sense of place and have the ability to age while increasing in both character and value.
