Smoke, tar, incense, licorice and game literally explode from the glass in the 2010 Syrah James Berry Vineyard. A deep, imposing wine, the 2010 shows the more masculine side of Syrah in its flavor and structure. Big tannins frame the broad, explosive finish. This isn't a subtle wine by any means, but it is full of personality. The James Berry Syrah was made with about 17% whole clusters. Tightly wound and restrained, with a mix of gravelly earth, dried berry, cedar, nutmeg and black licorice flavors that are slow to unfold. Tannins give the flavors traction.Drink Dates: 2014-2024Author: James Laube
