Bright purple. Bright aromas of red and dark berry preserves, floral oils and minerals, with a strong note of Asian spices. Fresh, vibrant and pure, offering sweet black raspberry and cherry flavors that stain the palate. At once rich and energetic, finishing with outstanding clarity and sappiness.

One of the great red wines of northern Italy, the 2009 Friuli Colli Orientali Rosazzo Sosso is a blend of Merlot, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and a small percentage of Pignolo. Opulent, round, generous and finely-tuned in terms of the purity of its aromas, this beautiful red blend shifts the focus from Friuli's plentiful white wine potential to the red. This is a signature expression from one of the area's most talented and historic producers. It shows the deft hands of its creator. Black fruit, spirited cherry, bitter chocolate, spice, leather and tobacco make a long lasting impact. You can taste the oak here, but those flavors are well contained and integrated. The finish is extra supple and long. The best aspect, however, are those characteristic tones of sour fruit and tangy black pepper that must come from the two indigenous grapes used in the blend.
