2009 RdV Vineyards Lost Mountain
UNITED STATES / VIRGINIA /
Wine Advocate | Rating: 92
The 2009 Lost Mountain was aged 18 months in new oak, but it absorbs it well and seems light-years fresher than its predecessor this issue, the 2008. It is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot. Vibrant and lively, it is beautifully structured in particular, featuring that tightly-wound feel that fine wines get without jammy nuances; penetration on the finish and a nice backbone. There is a hint of a gamy nuance and the finish provides a burst of flavor, too, making it delicious as well as interesting. Fresh and vibrant, this is lovely.Author: Mark Squires
