2009 Ken Wright Pinot Noir McCrone Vineyard
UNITED STATES / OREGON /
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 90
Bright violet. Smoky red and dark berry scents, with notes of underbrush and dried flowers. Black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors are lifted by tangy acidity and pick up hints of charred meat and herbs with aeration. Bright and nicely concentrated wine, with very good finishing clarity and lingering herbal notes. Complex already.Author: Josh RaynoldsIssue: July/August 2011Wine Spectator | Rating: 92
Tangy, with a live-wire backbone of acid and tannins against refined cherry, pepper and nutmeg flavors, gliding easily into the long, graceful finish. Best from 2013 through 2019.Author: Harvey SteimanWine Advocate | Rating: 89
The 2009 Pinot Noir McCrone Vineyard delivers a perfume of earthy minerals, spicy red fruits, and incense in a straightforward style. Savory and medium-bodied in the glass, this slightly one-dimensional offering is meant for drinking over the next 6-7 years.Author: Jay Miller
Located in rural Carlton, Oregon, Ken Wright Cellars is devoted to showcasing the inherent quality of selected vineyard sites. With a clarity and breadth that is unequaled by other varieties, they believe Pinot noir best expresses the character of these sites. Rather than stamping wine with a varietal trademark, they see Pinot noir as a vehicle for conveying the aroma, flavor and texture of the location in which it is grown.
