Wine Spectator | Rating: 96
Explosively fruity, rich and opulent, with loads of baked peach, apricot and pear flavors that are overlaid with concentrated notes of apple butter and spice. The long finish is filled with toffee and cream.Author: Kim Marcus
Created in 1911 by a split of family vineyards, this estate has built its stellar reputation on the strength of its long-lived Rieslings. First under the direction of Johann Josef Prum, and followed by subsequent generations, the winery is now maintained by Dr. Manfred Prum. The 33 acres of estate vineyards on the steep, rocky slopes of the middle Mosel produce 13,000 cases annually, running the full spectrum of the Pradikat. These vineyards boast 70% original rootstock, and low-yielding old vines. The resulting wines are known for their full-flavored fruit, spiciness, and slow development, which greatly rewards patient cellaring.
