The blockbuster 2009 Cote Rotie La Turque needs time, but there's no denying the quality here. Very ripe and voluptuous, with incredible aromas and flavors of black currants, coffee bean, roasted meats, licorice and raw steak, this full-bodied, muscular and powerful effort has a stacked mid-palate, ultra-fine, yet building tannin and a finish that just won't quit. Comprised of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, it's much more masculine and dense than the La Mouline, and will need additional cellar time to hit its peak.Drink Dates: 2016 - 2046Author: Jeb DunnuckIssue: 228Wine Spectator | Rating: 98
A pure, unadulterated raspberry confiture aroma and flavor is thedominant note today in this deep and expressive red, with extrasinged anise, alder, juniper and black currant notes filling in thebackground, followed by a very dense yet supremely polished finish. Features the weight and density of this fleshy vintage, but thefruit is so inviting this is almost approachable now. Better to waitthough.Drink Dates: 2015-2035Author: James MolesworthIssue: Oct 31, 2013International Wine Cellar | Rating: 95
Dark purple. Sexy, expansive aromas of boysenberry, violet and incense, with a bright mineral quality adding lift. Offers an array of ripe, luscious black and blue fruit and floral flavors that become spicier with air. Sappy, broad and sweet on the gently tannic finish, which shows superb clarity and persistence.Author: Josh RaynoldsIssue: March/April 2014Jancis Robinson | Rating: 18
The vines were only five years old when it was first made in 1985. They are now maturing. He always tastes Mouline, then Turque, then Landonne, because the tannins get stricter.Spicy nose. Very exciting and exotic. Pretty firm tannins, well managed. A bit of a Mouton. Really powerful and assertive.Author: Jancis RobinsonVinous | Rating: 95

Marcel Guigal - the so-called "pivot" of the Cote-Rotie appellation - is both an owner and negociant, and vinifies over 40% of all Cote-Rotie. His father, Etienne, started out quite modestly in 1946, and over the next decades the company has grown to encompass all that is best in the Rhone Valley. Not only known for the massive hits in Hermitage and Cote-Rotie, the Guigal name is synonymous with quality all along the scale, from the humble Cotes-du-Rhone to the Big Three - La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque.
