Medium red. Very ripe, soil-inflected aromas of red fruits, coffee, white pepper, lilac, violet and iodine. Silky, round and full, with terrific depth of flavor. But a bit unforthcoming today in the middle palate (Roumier says it has shut down since July), and not quite as sharply delineated today as the Ruchottes. The serious tannins supporting the wine's richness suggest that this simply needs time in bottle to harmonize.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2012Wine Advocate | Rating: 96
The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is fabulous. The warmth of the year has given the Amoureuses a little more volume than normal, but without robbing it of its essential character. The 2009 possesses stunning depth in all dimensions backed up by the silkiest of tannins. This is a great showing from Christophe Roumier.Author: Antonio Galloni
Georges Roumier married his way into some of the best vineyard holdings in the Cote d'Or, back in 1924. He gained a wife from Chambolle and the vineyards as part of the dowry. Grand Cru blocks in Bonnes-Mares, Clos de Vougeot, Musigny, and Corton Charlemagne produce highly sought-after wines year after year. Christophe Roumier, Georges' son, has run the domaine since 1982, when he took over management of his family's 14.2 hectares of vines. He is regarded as one of the finest winemakers in the Cote de Nuit, one who strives to create authentic representations of each of his diverse plots.
