2009 Domaine Georges Descombes Brouilly Vieilles Vignes
FRANCE / BEAUJOLAIS /
Wine Advocate | Rating: 90
Bottled after one year, the Descombes 2009 Brouilly Vieilles Vignes (like its younger vines counterpart, from the commune of Quincie) reflects its stay in barrel by a maple syrup-like resinous and caramelized inflection to its lightly cooked dark berry fruit. Hints of mint, coriander, nutmeg and cardamom enhance a sappy, generous palate impression whose tannins are fine-grained and in no way diminish the sense of richness, while a tart berry skin edge serves for finishing stimulation. This fine specimen of its vintage should be worth following for at least 4-5 years.Author: David Schildknecht
