International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92Good full red. High-toned, deeply spicy aromas of maraschino cherry, smoke, earth and minerals. Big, rich and harmonious, with lovely floral complexity to its red fruit flavors. Wonderfully silky and round without leaving any impression of undue weight. Extremely pliant wine with very supple tannins and a rich, long finish. Beautifully balanced from the start but Rousseau's top cuvees in 2009 should really be cellared for at least a decade.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2012
Burghound | Rating: 95Ripe and very floral aromas display pure red pinot fruit that is cut with minerality and crushed herb that introduce earthy and stony middle weight flavors that possess a taut muscularity and excellent power on the beautifully well-balanced and lingering finish. This is a wine of harmony that should age for decades if well-stored. Note further that this could rival the brilliant 2005 in time.Author: Allen Meadows
Wine Advocate | Rating: 93The estate's 2009 Ruchottes-Chambertin is long, pretty and supple in its crystalline expression of fruit. Impeccable and classy throughout, the Ruchottes is one of the more seductive wines among the 2009s.Author: Antonio Galloni
Founded just over 100 years ago, Domaine Armand Rousseau is a family-run winery considered to be among the best in Burgundy. Rousseau owns some of the most prestigious plots in Gevrey-Chambertin, and the resulting wines present the perfect distillation of the time-honored traditional methods of winemaking in Burgundy. The formula is simple—superb vineyards plus old vines plus low yields. This translates into wines of outstanding concentration that achieve a Burgundian balance of essential elegance and striking purity.
