  • Wine Advocate | Rating: 91

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2008 Rubicon is intensely scented of blackcurrant cordial, blackberry preserves and dark chocolate with hints of violets, toast and a whiff of coconut. Ripe, densely packed and full bodied in the mouth, it has a solid structure of medium to firm grainy tannins and medium to high acid to support the generous flesh, finishing long and spicy. Approachable now, it's still very youthful and has the structure to age gracefully over the next 8 to 10 years+.

  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 92

Rough-hewn, dense and chewy, with a complex earthy edge to the dried berry, sage, underbrush and cedar flavors. Full-bodied and well-proportioned, ending with a loamy earth aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot.

The Rubicon Estate Winery (formerly Niebaum-Coppola Winery and Inglenook Winery) is located in Rutherford, California in the heart of Napa Valley. The winery sits on a portion of the historic Napa property first acquired in 1879 by Finnish Sea Captain Gustave Niebaum, founder of the Inglenook Winery.

In 1975, Francis Ford Coppola and his wife Eleanor purchased Niebaum's Victorian home, along with 120 acres of surrounding vineyards. In 1995, Coppola reunited the two original Inglenook parcels by purchasing the grand Inglenook chateau and surrounding vineyards (neighboring vineyards now include Heitz Wine Cellars Martha's Vineyard and Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour). The winery underwent a name change in early 2006, and is now known as Rubicon Estate.
