2008 Maison Joseph Drouhin Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 94
Bright red, not too deep. Aromas of raspberry, gingerbread, mocha, smoky herbs and earth; showed higher-pitched notes of rose petal, menthol, white pepper and mint with extended aeration. This lovely, suave, filled-in midweight conveys a sense of extract without weight. A pure, silky, elegant essence of soil, with red fruit, floral and spice flavors staining the palate yet showing uncanny delicacy. Finishes very subtle and long, with excellent tangy energy. Deceptively easy to taste today, but this should age beautifully on its balance.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2011
