($120) Vivid red. Captivating, drop-dead gorgeous aromas of strawberry and raspberry compote, potpourri, mocha, Asian spices and minerals. Lush, sweet and penetrating, with intense floral and spice qualities lifting the deep red fruit flavors. The strong minerality helps to extend the strikingly long, spicy and expansive finish. Manages to be both powerful and light on its feet, showing superb clarity to its fruit and floral qualities. (JR)

Another top-notch success among this brilliant portfolio is the 2008 Pinot Noir East Block. The most powerful, rich, and full of these offerings, it has the best upside in terms of longevity. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of sweet cola, forest floor, camphor, pomegranate, raspberries, and black cherries. From the Rochioli's coolest terroir (all of their sites are relatively cool), this beauty boasts layers and layers of fruit as well as an expansive, long, 40+ second finish.

  • With three generations of dedication to the land, Rochioli Vineyards and Winery has earned the reputation as one of Sonoma County's finest. This family legacy began in 1938, when Joe Rochioli Sr. purchased land he had long farmed. He had the foresight to know that the soil of the Russian River Valley would one day produce some of the world's greatest wines. His son Joe Jr. embraced this vision and today craft renowned, terrior-driven wines built on a foundation of superb fruit.

The result has been a decades-long tradition of outstanding vintages: Silky-smooth, fruit-forward Pinot Noirs; rich, opulent Chardonnays; and tangy, food-friendly Sauvignon Blancs.
