  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92

Classic aromas of lemon, lime, minerals, hazelnut and grilled almond; smells rich in dry extract. Then dense and superconcentrated, with terrific inner-mouth energy to the flavors of peach, orange blossom, lemon and crushed stone. Time-capsule Meursault, finishing with superb length. This too should age very well.

Hazelnut nose. Creamy texture. Seductive but less exciting than the ChevaliŠres. Solid but just a little lacking in lift.

  • According to Robert Parker, "Jean-Francois Coche-Dury is one of the greatest winemakers on planet Earth." Parker' impassioned reverence to this estate in the late '80s brought its appeal worldwide, but neither triple digit scores nor critical acclaim need speak for the insanely low yields and meticulous winemaking that give Domaine Coche-Dury its mystique.

Approximately half of the domaine's nine hectares of vineyards are situated around its hometown of Meursault, and although Coche is best known for Chardonnay, the domaine also bottles six exquisite Pinot Noirs. Famous for the extensive oak treatment and a staggering 22 months in barrel, Coche Dury's finest wines, such as Corton Charlemagne and Meursault Perrieres, have power, concentration, purity, and depth balanced by vibrant acidity for extreme longevity.
