International Wine Cellar | Rating: 94Good full red. Brooding nose hints at menthol and crushed stone; less expressive but more elegant than the Clos de Beze. The biggest, richest and deepest of this series, with powerful minerality contributing to the impression of backbone. Offers outstanding richness and intensity without weight and really expands in the mouth, but this will need a minimum of ten years of cellaring to express its flavor potential. Very closed today and not nearly as sweet as the Clos de Beze. The palate-dusting, powerfully mineral finish goes on and on. I suspect this will eventually merit an even higher score.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2011
Jancis Robinson | Rating: 19Not deep, transparent crimson. Very precise and heady. Lovely pure burgundy on the nose. So delicate and lovely and comme il faut. Very long. Just wonderfully balanced on a tightrope.Author: Jancis Robinson
Wine Advocate | Rating: 95The 2008 Chambertin is rather delicate and almost ethereal in its seductive personality. This is another surprisingly open, expressive 2008. The tannins are elegant, while the wine's balance is simply terrific.Author: Antonio Galloni
Founded just over 100 years ago, Domaine Armand Rousseau is a family-run winery considered to be among the best in Burgundy. Rousseau owns some of the most prestigious plots in Gevrey-Chambertin, and the resulting wines present the perfect distillation of the time-honored traditional methods of winemaking in Burgundy. The formula is simple—superb vineyards plus old vines plus low yields. This translates into wines of outstanding concentration that achieve a Burgundian balance of essential elegance and striking purity.
