2008 Achaval-Ferrer Malbec Finca Mirador
ARGENTINA / MENDOZA /
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 91
($120; all old-vines malbec, cropped at 14 hectoliters per hectare) Saturated medium ruby. Deeper in pitch than the Altamira, with blackberry, cassis, black cherry and mint aromas complemented by strong smoky, meaty soil tones. Ripe and large-scaled but extremely closed today, not yet showing the inner-mouth perfume of the Altamira Strong acidity and big, broad tannins saturate the palate of this very firmly structured, ageworthy malbec.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: January/February 2011Jancis Robinson | Rating: 17
Pure raspberry, soft tannins, spice, dry finish, lovely grainy texture. Fantastic leathery length. This gets the best out of Malbec, for sure. (RH)Drink Dates: 2010-2020Author: Richard Hemming
