($38; 55% zinfandel, 21% petite sirah, 13% charbono and 11% syrah) Bright full ruby. Strong coconutty oak dominates the nose. Full, glyceral and sweet, but with sneaky energy and firm structural underpinning to the dark raspberry flavor. More complex and serious than the 2008 version, and a bit less sweet and obvious. Finishes with building tannins.
Not quite as great as I remember from previous vintages. Chalky, this one could actually benefit from filtration -- run it through a filter. Flavors nice but subtile. Good wine for its price-point ($35-40ish), but not spectacular.
