($85; a Bordeaux blend based on 66% cabernet franc) Bright ruby-red. Perfumed, cool nose shows lovely floral lift. Subtle berry flavors are perked up by spice and floral elements. Nicely understated wine with a subtle sweetness and good juicy persistence.

The 2007 The Falstaff (66% Cabernet Franc, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest equal parts Merlot and Petit Verdot) reveals beautiful aromas of blueberries, raspberries, bouquet garni, wood spice, espresso, and smoky oak. It possesses outstanding texture, sweet, velvety tannins, and an opulent, fleshy mouthfeel. The high proportion of Cabernet Franc will lead to more and more complex aromatics as the wine ages in bottle. It should age easily for 15+ years.

This full-bodied red combines ripe, rich layers of spice, plum and black cherry. Slow to unfold, but well-balanced, elegant and focused, ending with fine-grained tannins. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
