2007 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Puligny-Montrachet Les Champs Gains 1er Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / PULIGNY-MONTRACHET
Burghound | Rating: 91
Subtle if not invisible SO2 is present along with a pretty and airy nose of green fruit, acacia blossom and lemon zest that serves as a graceful introduction to the rich, full and naturally sweet medium-bodied flavors that are supported by good dry extract levels and a seductive mouth feel on the minerally finish. This is balanced, pure and ripe for the vintage.Author: Allen MeadowsIssue: 3rd Quarter, 2009
The latest in a long line of Burgundy producers, Pierre Yves Colin-Morey is intimately familiar with the vineyards and growers of the region. These relationships allow him to select the absolute best crop portions from his preferred sites each year. Colin-Morey is strict about quality and his standards are very high; if he feels that a particular wine, once fermented, is not of an acceptable caliber, he will sell it off in bulk rather than see it through bottling. The wines see no batonnage at all during their 15 -18 month elevage period, and they are coveted by enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
