($225; a selection of the best barrels from three disparate vineyards) Good medium ruby. A compote of red, black and blue fruits on the nose, lifted by spicy oak. Suave and silky on the palate, with fully ripe flavors of red berries, blueberry, smoke and pepper. Finishes broad, dry and seriously long, with big, smooth tannins and very good focus. Lovely fruit here.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Passionement (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Oakville Corridor) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as an extraordinary bouquet of graphite, cassis, cedar, and ink, full-bodied power, and huge tannins and density. However, the wineƒA?A?s velvety structure means it can be drunk in 2-3 years or cellared for 25+.
100% Cab from To Kalon. A bit muted overall, needs a lot of time to open up. A bit one-dimensional in that it just delivers lots of fruit on palate. Not much underneath that.

New Years Eve highlight! Possible the best wine I have ever had!?!? Exceptionally opulent, intense wine with an inky bluish purple color and a glorious noise of creosote, camphor, and blueberry pie intermixed with acacia flowers, forest floor and black currants. Great texture and suppleness. Still developing around deep sweet tanins, but this is drinkable now and should be amazing for 10+ years. We loved it so much that we had to open a second bottle!!! Blew me away!!!

This was the perfect Valentine's Wine for me and the wifey -- pure sexiness. Deep and inky ruby color. A clean, fresh nose of dark berries and mocha. Strong, clean follow through across broad tanins. One of the most brooding and enticing wines I've had and a perfect choice for a seductive dinner at Zare. Wonderful!
