($196) Bright medium red. Raspberry, crushed stone, mocha, underbrush and a whiff of porcini on the nose. Silky, sweet and very intensely flavored, with compelling inner-mouth perfume of red fruits, minerals, smoke and dried flowers. This really opens out on the back end and finishes lush, sweet and extremely long, with a lingering smoky quality. Built for a slow evolution in bottle.

Interestingly, this is more restrained aromatically than the Cuv‚e Christiane with a red berry fruit and earth nose liberally laced with floral notes that complement classy, pure and well delineated flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the driving, firm and balanced finish. This is not a big wine but the purity and harmony are impeccable and it should age well.
