2007 Domaine Leroy Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Vignerondes 1er Cru
Burghound | Rating: 93
A discreet if not invisible touch of wood frames an elegant dark berry and underbrush infused nose where the latter aspect continues onto the rich, full and palate saturating flavors that are really quite refined and finally culminate in a driving finish that really coats the mouth. The dry extract gives a velvety quality to the mouth feel as it pushes the firm tannins to the background on the hugely long finish, indeed there is so much material that this could very well surprise to the upside.Author: Allen MeadowsIssue: 2nd Quarter, 2009International Wine Cellar | Rating: 90
Good medium red. Blacker, fresher aromas of dark cherry and minerals. Juicy, spicy and sweet on the palate, with good grip and thrust to the dark fruit flavors. This boasts very good definition and cut for 2007 and finishes persistent and aromatic, with rather suave tannins.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2010
"Domaine Leroy is a welcome reminder of the difference between the very good and the great." - Michel Bettane, Vins de France
Created in 1988 with the purchase of the 12-hectare Domaine Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Leroy has become one of the most impressive and vaunted properties in Burgundy. Cultivation follows strict biodynamic parameters and the combination of old vine preservation and ultra-low yields produces fruit of unrivaled excellence. The resultant wines are masterpieces of purity, intensity and layered subtlety enhanced by an uncommonly statuesque concentration. The spectacular reviews that these wines consistently receive attest to their incredible and solid quality—they are a lynchpin in any Burgundy enthusiast's collection.
