Flowers and richness on the nose. Very tense and delicate. Not the richest - a refreshing, greenish style. Very refreshing. Streak of citrus.

  • Located 45 km south of Bordeaux in the village of Sauternes, Guiraud was founded in 1766 and recognized as a first growth Sauternes in 1855. The vines are grown on a combination of sandy gravel and clayey sand, and the vineyards are composed of 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc with an average vine age of 35 to 40 years old. Half of the fermentation process is done in new oak barrels and half is done in previously used barrels. Aging is done sur lie (on fine lees) for between 18 and 24 months. Annual winery production is approximately 100,000 bottles.
