International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92($100-$130) Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry, licorice, mocha and a whiff of sweet butter on the nose. Wonderfully intense and juicy, with sappy flavors of dark berries, violet and minerals. Combines lovely sweetness with terrific verve. Perhaps best today on the broad, sweet, impressively long finish, which features very fine-grained tannins. Not the richest or most powerful version of this wine, but a beauty.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: July/August 2010
Jancis Robinson | Rating: 1785% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. Bright crimson. Opulent, succulent nose with some evidence of depth. Real energy here and much more transparency than most other vintages of this property would have. Serious intent with a light touch. Very charming, so long as you are not looking for a blockbuster.Author: Jancis Robinson
This is a tiny estate that is often overlooked. The blend typically reflects a blend of 70%-80% Merlot and 20%-30% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines (55-65 years old) is one of the factors that make the wines from this chateau so admirable. They start out as juicy, concentrated and lush, and with time, become the personified elegance for which Pomerol has become famous.
