Aromatic, with a floral component to the raspberry and cherry notes. Though elegant, this has intensity and builds to the long finish. Tobacco, licorice and mineral accents add depth and dimension. Enticing from start to finish.

The 2007 Barolo Rocche di Castelletto is a very pretty wine laced with sweet red fruit, flowers, crushed rose petals and spices. It shows lovely mid-palate sweetness and depth and fine overall balance. This is a very accessible wine from Monforte, largely because it doesn't have the tannic structure typical of the Barolos of the village. The aromatic and flavor profile is much closer to La Morra, with just a little more depth

  • Piedmont, which literally means “foot of the mountain,” produces some of Italy's finest red wines. Its clay, limestone, and sand soils are home to the legendary Barolo and Barbaresco wines, made from the extremely age-worthy Nebbiolo variety. Dolcetto and Barbera are considered to be more “workhorse” varieties, and produce the largest quantity of wine. The region is tucked in the cool northwest corner of the country, surrounded on three sides by the Alps. Fog often blankets the region, ensuring long, cool growing seasons.
