($285) Good deep red. Captivating, vibrant aromas of raspberry, flowers, minerals and spicy oak; seems much more primary than the foregoing samples and it's hard to believe that this is just the new oak talking. Pretty, precise and energetic, yet at the same time displaying the creaminess of the vintage. Very pure raspberry, spice and mineral flavors linger impressively on the juicy, very long aftertaste.

A touch of wood spice frames an ultra elegant, cool and mineral suffused red currant, cherry and raspberry nose that complements to perfection the detailed, supple, round and wonderfully classy medium weight flavors that possess positively gorgeous complexity on the sappy, mouth coating and explosively long finish. A wine of harmony and style with outstanding depth.

Bright crimson. Very rich and voluptuous on the nose. More transparent and open than Sylvie Esmonin's. Slightly fizzy. Tense and flirtatious. Some transparency that's the savour of Ruchottes. Sweet fruit. Teenage!

Smooth, with concentration that makes this almost chewy framing the cherry, licorice and sandalwood notes. There's also a latent mineral tone. Though well-proportioned and harmonious, this needs a year or so to really sing.

  • Founded just over 100 years ago, Domaine Armand Rousseau is a family-run winery considered to be among the best in Burgundy. Rousseau owns some of the most prestigious plots in Gevrey-Chambertin, and the resulting wines present the perfect distillation of the time-honored traditional methods of winemaking in Burgundy. The formula is simple—superb vineyards plus old vines plus low yields. This translates into wines of outstanding concentration that achieve a Burgundian balance of essential elegance and striking purity.
