Combines a mix of bold, ripe and richly flavored black cherry, wild berry, plum and blackberry fruit with touches of spice, cedar and wild berry. Ends with a long, elegant, detailed finish.

The medium ruby-colored 2006 Pinot Noir Ten (which signifies the 10 different clones from which it is produced) reveals a sumptuous perfume of raspberries, black cherries, strawberries, underbrush, and spice. Volnay-like in the mouth with loads of red fruits, medium to full body, sweet tannins, and good acidity, this complex, evolved Pinot should be consumed over the next 3-4 years.

This is also extremely ripe with the same notes of menthol along with touches of cherry cough syrup, red berries, chocolate and coffee notes that continue onto the mouth coating, serious and structured finish that is again not particularly well integrated into the body of the wine. Here though the finish is not harsh so much as just awkward.

Great Ten...hints of clove and bacon, leading to a cola-esgue entree, followed by a silky finish for a 30 second experience...

Lush nose of ripe blueberries. Follows through onto the palate. Decent subtle spice and delicate oak. Nice dry finish.

NR alcohol Aromas: subtle nose that gains with air showing rich, sweet black cherry and pomegranate Palate: beautiful in the mouth, balanced, polished with delicately intwined sweet, and bright red fruits, and licorice Impression: hands down one of my favorite wine of the day, if you can find it - buy it

For years, vintners have coveted a stretch of land in the western end of Santa Barbara's Santa Rita Hills AVA known to have the perfect microclimate, soils, and exposure to grow world-class Pinot Noir. In 1999, fulfilling a long-held dream of owner Bob Davids, this sought-after stretch of land became Sea Smoke Vineyard.

Sea Smoke produces Pinot Noir grown exclusively on the south-facing hillsides of their estate vineyards. On summer evenings, the Santa Ynez River canyon funnels a cool maritime fog layer (sea "smoke") across the hillsides, slowing the ripening process and providing the extended maturation period essential to the development of top-quality Pinot Noir.
