Fresh and spicy, offering cinnamon, mint and red currant flavors. Elegant and firmly structured, just tails off on the finish.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino has developed beautifully over the last year. It is an especially delineated wine for the vintage. Finessed, silky tannins frame an expressive core of ripe red berries, freshly cut flowers, licorice and spices. The mid-weight structure suggests the 2006 is probably not going to be a long-term ager, but it is delicious today, and should continue to drink well for at least a handful of years. This is a lovely showing. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021.
