2006 Melville Pinot Noir Estate
UNITED STATES / CALIFORNIA / SANTA BARBARA
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 91
($32) Light red. Sexy baking spices complement understated redcurrant and strawberry on the nose. Brisk but filled in, with suave red fruit preserve flavors and racy cinnamon and clove qualities. Picks up a smoky quality on the long, spicy finish. This saw no new oak and half of the grapes were whole cluster-fermented, according to Brewer. Very attractive for its restraint and finesse.Author: Josh RaynoldsIssue: November/December 2007Wine Advocate | Rating: 91
Tart sweet and sour cherries, hints of strawberry jam, and lively acids characterize the 2006 Pinot Noir Estate. This wine is medium-bodied, fresh, lively, and very Cote du Beaune-like.Author: Robert Parker

Light, translucent and excellent pinot.Author: Patrick
In 1996 Melville Vineyards made the bold move from Knights Valley to the Santa Rita Hills appellation, where Ron Melville and his sons set up the estate property with a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Santa Rita microclimate, with its coastal winds and fog, provided the Melvilles the perfect locale for their 139 planted acres of Pinot, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Viognier. Winemaker Greg Brewer, of Brewer-Clifton fame, oversees production at Melville.
