Medium red. Fresh raspberry and sandalwood on the nose, with rose and cocoa adding complexity. Pliant red berry and dark cherry flavors boast impressive sweetness and purity, with bitter chocolate gaining strength with air. Finishes with excellent lift and cut, repeating the cherry note.

Smooth and focused, this well-mannered, medium-weight wine has fresh, ripe currant and plum flavors, shaded with hints of white pepper and cream as the finish lingers easily. 2,500 cases made.

Sweet and round and pretty and confident. Very polished and appealing already. The tannins seem much better managed than in earlier vintages with great lift and true flavour too. Maybe just a tad lacking refreshment factor?

The 2006 Pinot Noir Laurene (not due to be released until 9/09) is medium/dark ruby colored with an alluring perfume of pain grille, mineral, spice box, cherry, and black raspberry with some blue notes in the background. It has more depth and concentration than the |cuvee classique| with gobs of sweet, ripe fruit, enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years and a 45-second finish.
