($47) Light yellow. Intensely soil-driven nose offers a complex bouquet of iodine and mineral-laced citrus and pit fruit aromas. Firm, deeply concentrated lemon and Anjou pear flavors stain the palate and are strongly reminiscent of serious Chablis. Finishes with outstanding cling and vivacity.Author: Josh RaynoldsIssue: March/April 2008Burghound | Rating: 90
A hint of wood frames an expressive nose of dried apricot, yellow peach and spiced pear that complements the intense and citrus-infused flavors that are mouth coating and textured as there is ample dry extract that completely buffers the underlying acidity on the powerful and detailed finish. This is a big but not inelegant wine that is quite powerful if not especially elegant.Author: Allen MeadowsIssue: 4th Quarter, 2008Jancis Robinson | Rating: 16
More of that nuttiness, but sleek and already well rounded. An attractive drink already. Very precocious!Author: Jancis RobinsonIssue: 01/30/2008
Daniel Barraud is a genius when it comes to making beautifully structured wines from the village of Vergisson, an appellation that is replete with poor soil, old vines and mineral-laden rocks. The power of this favorable terroir is translated into wines of impeccable pedigree and comportment that will please in the present and reward in the future.
