International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89Good bright, full ruby. Spicy dark plum, redcurrant and cherry aromas complicated by menthol, lavender and leather. In a very closed stage today, with moderately sweet bitter cherry and dark chocolate flavors currently muted by an impression of slightly tart acidity. The finish is reasonably long but distinctly medicinal today, with an obvious herbal element. Will this expand with time in bottle? Corison normally picks her cabernet during the second or third week of September, but in 2006 the harvest was nearly a month later.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: May/June 2013
Rating: 18Gorgeous floral nose. Tight now, yet packed with cassis, black cherry and undercurrents of blueberry, black olive, dried herbs and tar. Refreshing acidity, and no alcoholic heat. Has a track record for aging gracefully. (LM)Author: Linda Murphy
Winegrower Cathy Corison produces artisan Cabernet Sauvignon from great benchland vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena in the Napa Valley. The estate vines of Kronos Vineyard, one of the oldest Cabernet vineyards in Napa, surround Corison Winery in its Victorian-style barn. Farmed organically and growing on gravelly loam soils, the gnarly old vines produce small yields and wines of uncommon concentration and refinement. They are juicy with blackberry and plum fruit, enhanced with a mineral note and violet perfume. Corison's wines are noted for their consistency and impeccable balance, powerful and elegant at the same time.
