2006 Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92
(a blend of purchased fruit and wine) Deep ruby-red, the darkest wine in the cellar. Deep, brooding aromas of black plum, minerals and game. Broad, lush and mouthfilling; fine-grained and pliant. This boasts excellent sweetness to its flavors of dark cherry and smoked meat. Plenty of extract and soil character here. Finishes with broad, building tannins and impressive lingering sweetness.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2008Burghound | Rating: 93
A serious, backward and brooding nose reluctantly gives up hints of very earthy dark pinot fruit nuanced by a distinct animale hint that merges into broad-shouldered flavors that offer excellent volume and concentration that finishes with just a hint of dryness and plenty of minerality. The dryness should round out in time as there is no associated sense of astringency.Author: Allen MeadowsIssue: 2nd Quarter, 2008
