2006 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Corton Le Rognet Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / CORTON-CHARLEMAGNE
Burghound | Rating: 93
A surprisingly expressive nose of red and black fruit with a background nuance of spiced plum slides into textured, seductive and slightly smoky flavors that culminate in a focused, powerful and mouth coating finish. This is not as precise or a mineral-driven as the Cras but there is more depth and length plus slightly better underlying material. This should age effortlessly.Author: Allen MeadowsIssue: 1st Quarter, 2008International Wine Cellar | Rating: 93
Deep red-ruby. Wild aromas of raspberry liqueur, coffee, fig and Iberico ham. Supple, fat and sweet; not as delineated as Clavelier's best premier crus but harmonious and not a bit heavy for all its volume. Finishes with supple tannins and lovely lingering sweetness. The yield here was just 27 hectoliters per hectare, according to Clavelier. Impressive and built to age.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2008
