2006 Marchesi Antinori Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Riserva
ITALY / TUSCANY / CHIANTI CLASSICO
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89
($53) Bright ruby-red. Pure, enticing aromas of sweet ripe raspberry, sour red cherry, licorice and sweet spices. Juicy and suave, with good intensity to the jammy red fruit, underbrush and nutty oak flavors. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and good length.Author: Ian D'AgataIssue: July/August 2010

Deep red colour; typical Chianti nose though it needed some time to open; very nice sweet notes of red cherry on the palate with vanilla; it still had quite pronounced tannins, suggesting that it still has a few years leftAuthor: TAs Super Cellar
Although the Antinori family has been making wine for over 600 years and is steeped in tradition, they haven't been afraid to modernize production and to take an innovative approach to blending. One result is the world famous Super Tuscan "Tignanello," a blend of Sangiovese (85%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and Cabernet Franc (5%). Marchesi Piero Antinori is the current proprietor of the estate, and was instrumental in creating Tignanello, propelling the popularity of Super Tuscans worldwide.

In addition to Tignanello, some of Antinori's most well-known wines include Solaia, Guado al Tasso, Campo di Sasso, Badia a Passignano, Pian delle Vigne, and Chianti Classico.
