Silky, refined and unexpectedly generous on the finish, this sashays over the palate with lots in reserve. Starts with pretty currant and blackberry fruit, then deepens with hints of cream, slate and chalk notes, all the while retaining a sense of sweetness and elegance.

We had this with friends on 12/6/09. It had a terrific bouquet of black cherry, potting soil, blueberry, burnt toast and spice. The palate was very smooth and balanced with flavors of black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, burnt toast and spice. It had a terrific, silky mouth feel and was exceptionally good.

Owners Ken and Grace Evenstad arrived in Oregon in 1989 to pursue their passion for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their winemaker Tony Rynders, who holds a Masters in Enology from UC Davis, crafts impeccably balanced wines primarily from three low-yielding estate properties: Jerusalem Hill, Evenstad and Winery Hill. Syrah is produced under their Rock Block label.
