2005 Neyers Chardonnay El Novillero Vineyard
UNITED STATES / CALIFORNIA / CARNEROS
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89
($42) Straw-green color; less polished than the Napa Valley bottling. Musky aromas of yellow plum, nectarine and orange.Round, silky, fat and rich, with a distinctly more exotic fruit character than the Napa release. This rather thick chardonnay shows more obvious alcohol and a bit less precision.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: January/February 2007Wine Advocate | Rating: 91
Cut from a similar mold as the Carneros with additional amounts of tropical fruit and brioche, the 2005 Chardonnay El Novillero Vineyard is an elegant, restrained white that builds incrementally in the mouth, and finishes with outstanding length as well as purity. It is a serious effort possessing more minerality than the Carneros cuvee.Author: Robert Parker
Bruce and Barbara Neyers developed their Napa winery, centered around the 50-acre Conn Valley Ranch Estate, in 1992. This has been the source for their vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot programs. Neyers' consultant, Ehren Jordan, has been involved since the beginning. Neyers is also known for reference-point Chardonnay, Syrah and Zinfandel sourced from a variety of established growers, including Tofanelli, Pato, Thieriot and Sangiacomo.
